
According to Environmental Leader, nearly 75 percent of 18-34 year olds are more likely to visit a green or sustainable attraction. Additionally, most young people expect to pay more for sustainable activities, and will pay up to ten percent more.
Environmental leader says visitors look for specific signs of a committment to sustainability: “recycle bins, energy efficient lighting, solar panels, selling food/beverages in bio-degradable containers, reusable shopping bags, and offering water in biodegradable cups rather than plastic. ”
LEED, not having widespread recognition among the public, was rated last as a sign of environmental committment by visitors.
