Indigenous Australian's have thousands of years of experience at managing their land. Fire management and other environment controls enabled them to live happy healthy lives for generations. European settlement brought about european style fire and land management schemes that just don't work in Australia. If governments and land owners let the Indigenous community get on with looking after the place Australia would have a much more sustainable ecosystem.

The idea of bringing in elephants while fun is just a little insulting to all concerned really.

The idea of controlling the top predators to manage the grass eating mammals is a more dignified. Aborigines being used to serve a short term ecological problem for the country while the Aborigines require long term social solutions for themselves is less dignified. Certainly the Aborigines are keen on cultural techniques to an immediate problem, but how can they continued to be employable after the initial problem is abated.

Now the burning grass problem is in need of managing, although the indigenous people, Aborigines, may not have been consulted to bring non-native grass to Australia, as good citizens willing to secure positive results for themselves and their country, how do the Aborigines suggest the grass problem should be addressed? If not, why? Might the Aborigines,as any of the able-bodied citizens, in any case, be interested in being educated with long term marketable skills of fire fighting, animal husbandry, pests control and landscape design? Perhaps, investing in these ecological skills would reduce or eradicate some the social ills.
